Dozens of local Japanese girls gathered from the city have been benefited from the self-defense seminar taught by Ms. Amy Connell, WKF Instructor and Guardian Girls Karate Instructor from Scotland and Ms. Yumi Hasewaga, Japan Karatedo Federation Instructor locally from Japan.

Guardian Girls Karate Self-Defense Seminar
On June 9th and 10th, the Guardian Girls Karate was newly launched by the Koyamada International Foundation (KIF), World Karate Federation (WKF) and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)in Fukuoka Japan. On 9th, the Guardian Girls Karate Reception was hosted at the American Consulate Fukuoka's American Center in collaborations with Japan Karatedo Federation (JKF), KIF Japan and UNFPA Japan. In the following day, the Guardian Girls Karate's self-defense seminar was organized locally to benefit dozens of Japanese girls who learned about the project and were empowered through the training in Fukuoka, Japan.

On June 9th, 2023, the U.S. Ambassador to Japan Rahm Emanuel gave video greeting to support the Reception of the Guardian Girls Global Karate Project (Guardian Girls Karate). 

The event was hosted by the Koyamada International Foundation (KIF), World Karate Federation (WKF) and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in collaborations with KIF Japan, Japan Karatedo Federation (JKF) and U.S. Consulate Fukuoka at the American Center in Fukuoka.

Shin Koyamada became best known worldwide for his film debut co-starring with Tom Cruise in The Last Samurai, which was nominated for Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and two National Board of Review Awards, with a worldwide box office of $456 million. Koyamada starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie's Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior, which received the highest rated kids channel in Japan, U.K. and Europe. In addition, he is also well known for producing numerous movies, shows, comics and video games through his production company Shinca Entertainment since 2005.

Originally from Colombia, Nia Lyte is the President of the Koyamada International Foundation (@KIFGlobal), TED Talk speaker, entrepreneur, author and philanthropist. She became a published author of a book called “The Power of Your Inner Beauty”, distributed nationwide in English and Japanese at the Barnes & Noble and Amazon. She's President of Shinca Group.

Monica Rodriguez became the third Latina in the City of Los Angeles' history to serve on the Los Angeles City Council on July 1, 2017, to represent the district she’s called home her entire life. Councilwoman Rodriguez’ values are shaped by her immigrant family– her father’s youth spent as a farm worker, who later earned his citizenship through his military service in Vietnam.  Upon returning home, he continued his service as one of the first Latino Firefighters on the LA City Fire Department after adoption of the consent decree.

Elisa Au is Chairwoman of USA National Karate-Do Federation (USA-NKF), a 3x World Karate Champion, entrepreneur and mom to two awesome kids. Follow her exciting life journey from Hawaii to the world.

Elisa Au is the most decorated American karate athlete of all time. She is the only female athlete in the history of the sport to claim gold medals in two individual events at the same world championship (2004).  

In 2017, after retiring from karate competition for over seven years, Elisa returned to the sport arena in hopes of qualifying for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.  After suffering an ACL injury and surgery in 2018, Elisa made yet another comeback and is currently competing worldwide in hopes of achieving her Olympic dream.  She is also a real estate agent in the Chicagoland area, public speaker and entrepreneur.

Ryo Kiyuna (喜友名諒, Kiyuna Ryō, born 12 July 1990) is an Okinawan karateka. He won the gold medal in the men's kata event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. He is also a four-time gold medalist in the men's kata event at the World Karate Championships and a two-time gold medalist in the men's team kata event, alongside Arata Kinjo and Takuya Uemura. He has also won multiple gold medals in both the individual and team kata events at the Asian Karate Championships.
