Meeting with UNFPA’s Head Natalia Kanem in Kenya
In Nairobi, Kenya, Shin Koyamada, Chairman of the Koyamada International Foundation (KIF) was invited to speak at The 2019 Nairobi Summit on ICPD25 (International Conference of Population and Development), hosted by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Governments of Kenya and Denmark from November 12 to 14, 2019. More than 8,000 delegates, representing governments, advocates, health organizations, women’s and youth activists and others, from more than 170 countries, gathered in Kenya for the Nairobi Summit on ICPD25.
Mr. Koyamada shared the global efforts that KIF has developed and implemented on Gender Equality for many years to the distinguished guests from around the world. During his speech, he made two pledges to the crowd, which was to launch KIF Kenya, a Kenyan Chapter of the KIF, in Nairobi and Guardian Girls, a new Gender-Based Violence Prevention Program.
During the Conference, Mr. Koyamada had an opportunity to sit down and meet with Dr. Natalia Kanem, Executive Director of UNFPA and Ms. Mariarosa Cutillo, Chief Strategic Partnerships of UNFPA at the The United Nations Office at Nairobi, the UN headquarters in Africa. They briefly talked about a potential partnership between KIF and UNFPA on a gender-based violence prevention program.
