GUARDIAN GIRLS ACADEMY
OVERVIEW
The Guardian Girls Academy is a full three-to-five-month project that targets vulnerable girls and young women between the ages of 12-25 as direct beneficiaries to empower them to defend themselves from all forms of violence through a full orientation and self-defense training.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Academy is to educate girls and young women in every corner of the world about gender equality and its gender-based violence and impact them physically and mentally in a positive, sustainable and inclusive way through our Guardian Girls program.
GOAL
The goals are to; strengthen the capacity of young women and adolescent girls to protect themselves from all forms of GBV including harmful practices; enhance the life skills of young women and adolescent girls through training and mentorship; and strengthen the participation of communities in urban informal settlements in ensuring the safety and well-being of young women and adolescent girls.

HOW WE DO
ORIENTATION
During the course of the Academy, Orientation Sessions will be provided by a UNFPA Country Office or other partners about the impact that gender-based violence (GBV) has on women and girls in the hosting country and around the world.
ACADEMY
Each project of the Academy will be strategically localized and administered by KIF’s Regional Committee or National Chapter, UNFPA Country Office and/or other global partners in partnership with GBV actors, local organizations and groups for the best fit for the communities they serve in the hosting country.
