JCI Colombia and KIF Colombia Signs MOU on Guardian Girls
BOGOTÁ, COLOMBIA – October 21, 2023 – In a collaborative and resolute endeavor to combat gender-based violence (GBV), the Junior Chamber International Colombia, referred to as JCI Colombia, has formalized its commitment by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Koyamada International Foundation Colombia, known as KIF Colombia. This strategic partnership designates JCI Colombia as the National Partner for the Guardian Girls Colombia program, a comprehensive initiative aimed at preventing and responding to gender-based violence in Colombia. The program is administered at the national level by KIF Colombia and at the global level by Guardian Girls International (GGI).
JCI Colombia is a prominent nonprofit organization based in Bogotá, affiliated with the global network of Junior Chamber International (JCI), a nonprofit global organization of 200,000 young people aged between 18 and 40. In close collaboration with KIF Colombia, JCI Colombia will work in synergy with its local chapters to tailor and implement the Guardian Girls Colombia program according to the specific needs of the communities it serves. This cooperative effort aims to empower hundreds of girls and women across the nation in an inclusive and sustainable manner.
In 2019, the Guardian Girls initiative was initiated globally by the Koyamada International Foundation (KIF), an international non-governmental organization and an affiliate of KIF Colombia. Guardian Girls is a comprehensive gender-based violence prevention and response program that focuses on equipping girls and women with the skills and confidence to defend themselves against various forms of violence, utilizing sports and holistic martial arts training.
In February 2019, KIF and JCI formalized their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) as Global Partners. This landmark agreement paved the way for enhanced cooperation at national levels between the respective National Chapters of KIF and JCI in countries around the world. The current collaboration between KIF Colombia and JCI Colombia solidifies the commitment of both organizations to the global objectives of the original partnership marking a significant and vital step in ongoing worldwide efforts to combat gender-based violence.
