Guardian Girls Karate Instructor’s Certification Course
The Guardian Girls Karate (GGK) Instructor Certification Course was hosted in Adelaide, South Australia, by the GGI’s global partner, the World Karate Federation (WKF).
Led by Scottish WKF-certified instructor Amy Connell, the intensive two-day program brought together 17 women from Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and New Caledonia. The training will be followed by a public seminar at Wayville Sports Centre, designed to equip girls and women with practical skills to protect themselves from all forms of gender-based violence — including sexual, physical, and emotional abuse; harmful practices; economic abuse; and human trafficking — through the practice of karate.
Upon certification, these 17 new Guardian Girls Karate instructors will return to their communities to deliver self-defense training, fostering empowerment, safety, and gender equality across Oceania. Looking ahead, the WKF aims to establish Guardian Girls Karate Academies in each of its 201 member nations, meeting an urgent need for such programs both in Oceania and worldwide.
