Guardian Girls Karate Seminar Empowers Women in Australia
The Guardian Girls Karate (GGK) Seminar was hosted in Adelaide by the GGI’s global partner, the World Karate Federation (WKF), concluding three days of impactful activities. The event brought together local women to learn practical, effective tools for protecting themselves against gender-based violence, underscoring the powerful role karate can play in fostering safer communities.
The seminars followed the completion of the WKF Instructor Certification Course, which prepared and certified a new cohort of karate instructors to deliver the Guardian Girls Karate Programme throughout the Oceania region. The programme was also officially launched during a special ceremony at Government House, Adelaide, marking a significant milestone in its regional rollout.
Led by WKF Head Instructor Amy Connell, and supported by four newly qualified instructors, the open seminars offered hands-on training focused on awareness, prevention, and confidence-building. Participants engaged in karate-based techniques designed not only to develop self-defense skills but also to promote empowerment and resilience.
