Tokyo Hosts Guardian Girls Karate Seminar on Int’l Women’s Day
In celebration of International Women’s Day, the World Karate Federation (WKF), Guardian Girls International (GGI), and the Japan Karate Federation (JKF), in cooperation with Guardian Girls Japan, Koyamada International Foundation Japan (KIF Japan), and rYojbaba Co., Ltd., hosted a Guardian Girls Karate Seminar at the Japan Karate Federation headquarters in Tokyo on March 8, 2026.
The seminar was held as part of the Guardian Girls Karate Instructor’s Course for the Asia region, which took place on March 7–8, 2026. The programme brought together female karate instructors from across Asia to receive certification to implement the Guardian Girls Karate programme in their respective countries.
During the March 8 seminar, approximately 50 participants, including university students and international residents living in Tokyo, attended a women’s self-defense workshop designed to introduce practical personal safety techniques based on karate. The session focused on improving awareness, confidence, and basic defensive skills that women can use in everyday situations.
The newly certified instructors also observed and participated in the seminar as part of their training, gaining first-hand experience in delivering the Guardian Girls Karate programme in a real seminar setting. This practical experience will help them organize similar workshops through their national karate federations in coordination with their respective Guardian Girls National Committees (GGNCs).
Following their certification, these instructors will be able to organize Guardian Girls Karate seminars in their home countries, working in partnership with national committees such as Guardian Girls Indonesia, Guardian Girls Malaysia, Guardian Girls Singapore, and others across the Asia region.
The Guardian Girls Karate programme is part of the broader Guardian Girls global initiative, which uses sports and martial arts as tools to promote women’s empowerment, safety, and leadership, contributing to the goals of gender equality and the protection of women and girls worldwide.
