Guardian Girls Karate Expands Instructors Across Ireland

WKF - "Guardian Girls Karate Wraps Up Promising Instructors’ Course in Ireland"

Newly certified Guardian Girls Karate (GGK) instructors from across all regions of Ireland have completed their training and are now set to apply their knowledge through two-hour introductory sessions and eight-week seminars nationwide. The participants expressed strong dedication to the initiative and enthusiasm to bring the programme to life within their local communities.

This Instructors’ Course marks a significant milestone for GGK Ireland, aligning with the country’s growing expansion strategy. Over the course of 2025, more than twenty activities have been organized across the nation—many dedicated to young girls in schools and within traveller and refugee communities—promoting empowerment, inclusion, and safety through karate.

In addition to the instructor course, the program included an open seminar for women and girls, providing practical training in basic striking techniques, grabs, and holds to help participants respond more effectively to situations of gender-based violence (GBV).

Co-created by the World Karate Federation (WKF), the Koyamada International Foundation (KIF), and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Guardian Girls Global Karate Programme is a global initiative that promotes gender equality, self-empowerment, and GBV prevention through the discipline and philosophy of karate.
