Vietnam welcomes new Guardian Girls Vovinam Instructors

The Vietnam Vovinam Federation (VVF) has officially joined the Guardian Girls Vovinam (GGV) project as an authorized member organization of Guardian Girls Vietnam, marking a major milestone in advancing women’s empowerment through Vovinam-based martial arts across the country.

Following the official signing of a national GGV agreement between Guardian Girls International (GGI), the World Vovinam Federation (WVVF), and the VVF, VVF is now formally authorized to develop and implement the GGV project nationwide through its national structure and local member organizations.

As part of this milestone, VVF proudly welcomed a new cohort of certified female Guardian Girls Vovinam instructors, who will play a key role in delivering training, safeguarding education, and empowerment programmes for women and girls throughout Vietnam. The newly certified GGV instructors are:

  • Nguyen Thi My Trang
  • Truong Kim Kieu Giang
  • Nguyen Thi To Nga
  • Bui Dang Hong Nhung
  • Ton Nu Quynh Mai

Their certification represents a significant step toward building a strong, women-led instructor network within Vietnam’s Vovinam community.

This national development follows an important global milestone. On 16 September 2025, GGI and WVVF signed a global Memorandum of Understanding, officially establishing WVVF as a global partner of Guardian Girls and formally bringing the international Vovinam community into the Guardian Girls movement worldwide. Through this partnership, Vovinam is positioned as a powerful tool to empower women and girls, combining martial arts training with values of confidence, dignity, and violence prevention.

The World Vovinam Federation represents more than 70 national federations and millions of Vovinam practitioners worldwide, with a particularly strong presence in Vietnam and across Asia. Vovinam’s cultural importance was further recognized when it was officially designated as Vietnam’s national intangible cultural heritage by the Government of Vietnam in November 2023.

With VVF now officially part of Guardian Girls Vietnam, the Guardian Girls Vovinam project is set to expand across the country, strengthening national capacity to promote gender equality and safeguard women and girls through one of Vietnam’s most respected and culturally significant martial arts traditions.
