PROJECT SUMMARY
A private audience with the Pope Francis and GGI's Co-founders Shin Koyamada and Nia Lyte
The Holy Women Initiative (HWI) is a project of GGI that develops and delivers faith-based formation, safeguarding, and dialogue programs for women, grounded in Catholic values and respect for human dignity.
HWI integrates spiritual formation, values-based leadership development, and prevention-focused education to strengthen safeguarding, resilience, and responsible participation in family, community, and social life. Through seminars, academies, and community-based programs, the Initiative promotes respect, responsibility, non-violence, and care for the vulnerable.
As part of GGI’s global framework, HWI implements safeguarding and self-protection pathways through the Guardian Girls Seminar and Guardian Girls Academy, which use combat sports–based training to provide women and girls with practical self-protection skills, discipline, and confidence under Guardian Girls International standards.
HWI also convenes dialogue platforms such as the Holy Women Forum, bringing together women leaders, faith-based institutions, and community partners for values-based discussion on dignity, safeguarding, leadership through service, and social responsibility.
Through partnerships with churches, sports federations, educational institutions, and community organizations, the Holy Women Initiative contributes to GGI’s mission to prevent violence, strengthen safeguarding at the community level, and foster safer and more resilient societies.
