GUARDIAN GIRLS KARATE
PROJECT SUMMARY

World Karate Federation (WKF) has 201 member federations. The WKF is the international governing body for sport karate and is the only karate organization recognized by the International Olympic Committee. In May 2022, the WKF signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Koyamada International Foundation (KIF) to officially join the Guardian Girls program, which KIF launched in 2019. That same year, WKF and KIF jointly launched the Guardian Girls Karate (GGK) project as part of this global initiative. In 2024, KIF established Guardian Girls International (GGI), a new international non-governmental organization, to take over and manage all Guardian Girls programs and projects worldwide. Since then, GGI has worked closely with WKF to support the continued development and implementation of the GGK project under the new partnership framework.
