National Launch of Guardian Girls Indonesia in Jakarta
Indonesian Sports Federations Unite to Empower and Safeguard Women and Girls Through the Guardian Girls Movement
JAKARTA, INDONESIA — On the night of May 18, 2026, Guardian Girls International (GGI) officially launched Guardian Girls Indonesia (GGNC Indonesia), the national committee of the global Guardian Girls movement, during a special reception held at the Official Residence of the Japanese Ambassador in Jakarta.
The launch reception was hosted by Mr. Mitsuru Myochin, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of Japan to Indonesia, in partnership with GGI, UNFPA Indonesia, and The Japan Foundation Indonesia. The event brought together distinguished leaders from diplomatic missions, United Nations agencies, government institutions, sports federations, women’s organizations, and civil society from across Indonesia and abroad.
Opening remarks were delivered by Mr. Mitsuru Myochin, followed by remarks from Mr. Shin Koyamada, Secretary General of GGI; Ms. Verania Andria, Assistant Representative of UNFPA Indonesia; and Mr. Inami Kazumi, Director of The Japan Foundation Indonesia.
The reception also welcomed VIP guests and high-level representatives from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection of the Republic of Indonesia, alongside more than a dozen executives and representatives from the Indonesia Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia), including its President, Mr. Raja Sapta Oktohari, who attended in support of the official launch of Guardian Girls Indonesia.
Featured speakers during the evening included Ms. Zelda Wulan Kartika, Senior Advisor to the Minister on Economic Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, and Mr. Raja Sapta Oktohari, President of NOC Indonesia. Mr. Shin Koyamada also delivered a ceremonial toast celebrating the official launch of Guardian Girls Indonesia and its new national sports partnerships.
As part of the official launch ceremony, pre-signed agreements and partnership frameworks were formally presented on stage by representatives of participating federations together with Mr. Shin Koyamada, followed by official commemorative photographs before the audience.
Advisor to the Minister on Economic Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, and Mr. Raja Sapta Oktohari, President of NOC Indonesia. Mr. Shin Koyamada additionally delivered a ceremonial toast celebrating the official establishment of Guardian Girls Indonesia and its new national sports partnerships.
As part of the official launch ceremony, pre-signed agreements and partnership frameworks related to Guardian Girls projects in Indonesia were formally presented on stage by representatives of participating federations together with Mr. Shin Koyamada, followed by commemorative photographs welcoming each federation as founding member organizations of the newly established Guardian Girls Indonesia.
The following organizations officially joined Guardian Girls Indonesia as founding member organizations:
- Indonesia Ju-Jitsu Federation (PBJI) joined through the launch of Guardian Girls Ju-Jitsu (GGJJ), represented by Mr. Dedy Triharjanto, President of PBJI. Indonesia became the first country in Southeast Asia and Asia to officially launch GGJJ.
- Indonesian Judo Federation (PJSI) joined through the launch of Guardian Girls Judo (GGJ), represented by Ms. Regina Vega, Secretary General of PJSI. Indonesia also became the first country in Southeast Asia and Asia to officially launch GGJ.
- Indonesia Vovinam Federation joined through the launch of Guardian Girls Vovinam (GGV), represented by Mr. I Nyoman Yamadhiputra, President of the federation.
- Aikido Shudokan Indonesia joined through the launch of Guardian Girls Aikido (GGA), represented by Mr. Mark Hadiarja, President of Aikido Shudokan Indonesia.
- Indonesia Pencak Silat Association (IPSI) joined through the launch of Guardian Girls Pencak Silat (GGPS), represented by Mr. Benny G. Sumarsono, Chairman of IPSI.
- Indonesian Karate Federation (FORKI) joined through Guardian Girls Karate (GGK), represented by Mr. Hadi Tjahjanto, President of FORKI.
GGI also maintains global partnership agreements with major international federations and strategic partners supporting Guardian Girls projects. These include a global agreement with the Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF) for Guardian Girls Ju-Jitsu (GGJJ), a global agreement with the World Vovinam Federation (WVVF) for Guardian Girls Vovinam (GGV), and a global collaboration framework with the World Karate Federation (WKF) for Guardian Girls Karate (GGK). In addition, GGI recently signed a global agreement with the International Pencak Silat Federation (IPSF) to support the international launch and expansion of Guardian Girls Pencak Silat (GGPS).
Through these partnerships, the participating federations formally became founding member organizations of Guardian Girls Indonesia and committed to implementing and expanding their respective Guardian Girls initiatives throughout the country. The projects aim to empower and safeguard women and girls through sports, education, leadership development, and community engagement.
Under the Guardian Girls Indonesia framework, participating organizations will collaborate with United Nations agencies, diplomatic missions, national and local government institutions, women’s organizations, educational institutions, and community stakeholders to advance gender equality and help prevent violence against women and girls throughout Indonesia.
Speaking during the ceremony, Mr. Shin Koyamada emphasized the importance of building a unified national platform that brings together sports federations, international organizations, and local communities to create sustainable social impact.
“Tonight marks the beginning of a new national movement in Indonesia that brings together sports, international cooperation, women’s leadership, and community engagement under one shared vision,” said Mr. Koyamada. “We are honored to welcome these respected national federations as founding member organizations of Guardian Girls Indonesia, and we look forward to working together to help empower and safeguard women and girls throughout Indonesia and beyond.”
Guardian Girls International has launched projects in more than 30 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas in collaboration with governments, United Nations agencies, international sports federations, embassies, and local organizations. Guardian Girls Indonesia is expected to serve as a national coordination platform for future Guardian Girls seminars, academies, leadership programs, policy dialogues, and community initiatives throughout Indonesia.
